Policy

How we handle personal information

Who we are and how to contact us

Tech As A Service (TaaS) is the organisation responsible for handling your personal information. If you have questions about privacy, want to access or correct your information, or make a privacy complaint, you can contact us at help@taas.au or through the contact details published on our website.

Information we collect

We collect personal information such as your name, contact details, service and billing address, account and payment information, service usage and technical data, support records, website activity, and any information you provide when making an enquiry, ordering a service, uploading documents, or contacting our support team. We may also collect information needed for identity verification, fraud prevention, accessibility support, and legal or regulatory obligations

Why we collect it

We collect, use, and hold personal information to provide and manage our services, process enquiries and orders, verify identity, deliver customer support, bill and receive payments, prevent fraud, improve service quality and security, meet legal and regulatory obligations, communicate with customers, and, where permitted, provide information about relevant products and services.

Where it comes from

We collect personal information directly from you when you visit our website, submit an enquiry, upload documents, place an order, use our services, or contact us. We may also receive information from authorised representatives, wholesale and network providers, installers, payment and identity verification services, fraud prevention providers, referral partners, and other lawful public or third-party sources where needed to provide services or meet our legal obligations.

Disclosure and overseas handling

We may share personal information with wholesale and network providers, carriers, installers, payment processors, identity and fraud prevention providers, cloud and technology suppliers, professional advisers, regulators, and authorised representatives where needed to deliver services or meet legal requirements. Some information may be stored or accessed outside Australia by our service providers, and we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate privacy and security protections are in place.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies to operate and secure our website, remember preferences, analyse website usage, measure marketing performance, and improve our services. Where required, you can choose whether to allow non-essential analytics and advertising cookies, and you can change your preferences through our website settings or your browser controls at any time.

Security and retention

We protect personal information using appropriate technical and organisational security measures, including access controls, encryption, monitoring, secure systems, and staff training. We keep personal information only for as long as needed to provide services, meet legal and regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or support business operations, after which it is securely deleted or de-identified.

Access and correction

You can request access to the personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, or misleading by contacting our Privacy Officer through help@taas.au. We will verify your identity, respond within a reasonable timeframe, and provide access or correction in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

Privacy complaints

If you have a privacy question or complaint, you can contact our Privacy Officer using the contact details published on our website. We will acknowledge, investigate, and respond to your complaint within a reasonable timeframe. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) or the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) for independent review.

Current technical behaviour

How this website currently handles information

A plain description of how the website works today, so you can see what happens to information in your browser.

This is a description of the website's current technical behaviour, pending the approved Privacy Policy. It does not replace the policy above and will be reviewed when the approved policy is published.

Kept in your browser for this session

The website keeps a small amount of information in your browser's session storage so pages can remember your choices as you move around. It is not kept in cookies.

  • The audience you choose (Corporate, Small Business or Residential) and whether the audience chooser has been shown.
  • Campaign (UTM) values from the link that brought you to the site.
  • A service address you type into an address check, so the address-check page can show it.
  • Form confirmation details: the type of form, its reference, whether it was a preview and, for some forms, the enquiry reason, the audience and services selected, and whether a bill was provided.

Session storage belongs to the browser tab you are using and is cleared when you close that tab. Campaign values are also placed in hidden form fields so an enquiry can record how you found us.

Analytics events

Pages record interaction events, such as choosing an audience, opening a question or starting a form, in a data layer within the page.

  • Events are designed to exclude names, contact details, addresses and free text.
  • Support, complaint, hardship and accessibility form events carry only the type of form and, if a form has errors, how many.
  • An address check records only that a check started and its result category, never the address.

In this build, no analytics service is connected, so these events are not sent to an analytics provider. The website's own scripts do not set cookies.

Forms are in preview

Forms on this website are currently in preview mode and do not send data. When you submit a form, your entries are checked in your browser and a preview reference is created, but nothing is transmitted. Any file you choose to upload stays in your browser.

Web fonts

The website's typeface is loaded from a third-party web font service, so your browser requests font files from that service's servers when a page loads.
